i am back and i have another question about downloading a plug in. lol

anyhow... i am wanting to download simon b's plg pack.

i want the editable text tool.

when downloading this where do i save it to?

i am sure that this information is posted somewhere else, i just was not succesful in finding it.

Copy paste the plugin files into the Paint.NET/Effects folder.

maybe its silly question, but after I have installed those effects - how can I open them in my work desk? I checked all buttons, menu etc and didnt found

Should be found in various sub-menu locations, such as:

Effects > Object

Effects > Selection

etc.

Some will be in Adjustments.

So here's a question that reaches a little beyond the "I'm to lazy to read the first page of this thread, so I'll just post the duplicate question that five billion others have already asked."

I have done all the steps of downloading, unzipping, puttiing dll's in folders yada, yada, yada. Now I have the various plugins in their respective drop down menus and so forth, but none of them run.

I get plugin error messages like these:

Sorry to ask a stupid question if this is one. But does this mean, that if I want these plugins to work I need to edit my registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.?

You don't need to edit your registry to have the plugin work.

Do you have the SBCommon.dll file in your Effects folder?

It is necessary for the Simon Brown plugins to work right.

OK Im slow so bare with me Ive done everything in the first post and the plugins are in the effects file but when I go into Paint.net theyre either not there or I dont know where to find them And also when I click any of the files in the effects folder it opens up Paint.net and says this image couldnt be displayed or something like that if that helps :S Does that men Ive done something wrong?

Don't click the files in the Effects folder.

The plugins should show up in the Effects menu or

the Adjustments menu unless they are filetype plugins.

If you can say specifically which plugins are in question,

we can help better.

Plugin effects are loaded by Paint.Net when it starts up. You don't need to open them. In fact you won't get anything but an error message if you do. Once the files are in place, just ignore them.

As Paint.Net loads the effects, they can sometimes be overlooked as part of the program itself. Try looking in the Effects menu, and then in the sub menus. The sub menu Render in particular is where a lot of effects reside.

You can find a list of built-in effects here: Default effects. Anything you find that is not on the list is bound to be an effect.

If you continue to have trouble, tell us which effects you are trying to install/having trouble with.

OK I'll try to explain this as best I can Since the first time Ive posted Ive managed to get a plugin pack installed. This was Vandermottens. I have also figured out a way to get most of the plugins onto Paint.net but its a very roundabout way (I'll explain that later on). The plugins so far that have not gone into Paint.net are Boltbaits pack, Pyrochilds pack, dpyplugins 5.1, the Alpha mask plugin and the align object plugin. Some of the plugins (ie. the ones other than Vandermottens) say theyre compressed files but Ive unblocked them. Vandermottens was never compressed :S It looks like this:

Now I'll explain how I can get most of the plugins onto paint.net.

I do what was described in the OP. I go into each plugin/pack so they dont show as compressed anymore and then move them into the Effects file again. Paint.net is still not open. It then asked me if I want to copy and replace the original. While that window is open I open paint.net and then click that I want to copy and replace. It then says it doesnt work and to close Paint.net so I do. Then I try again and they go into it. This takes a lot of time since you have to do it individually with each plugin in a pack. It also doesnt work with some plugins (cant remember which ones).

Maybe theres no fix for this LOL. Or maybe Ive just done everything completely wrong LOL

I am new to this Forum, and have read all the way through this Troubleshooting thread. Now maybe I am a doofus but I can 't seem to get any of this to work for me. I have everything installed correctly so I think, Ihave restarted the program and computer multiply times this still did not work. Ihave read inthsi thread about unblocking what is that and willit help my plugins to show up. I have used this prgram for 2 years now and everytime I have to install it I have this problem, las ttime it just seem to work. This time it is nto workign at all. Ihave the basic plugins that came with the PDN prgram. I have extracted all plugins I downloaded and placed them in the effects folder. I am at a loss. please help me.

Please scroll up 5 or 6 posts and click on the word Show after the words Hidden Content: .

Choose one of the plugin packs listed, and try installing it exactly as directed.

Report back with your results.
