Sarkut Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Other possibilities: Have you closed and re-opened Paint.NET after installing the plugin files? Smudge used to be in the Distort sub-menu, it is now in the Tools sub-menu. Have you checked in: Utilities > View Plugin Load Errors Quote
Hitman H94 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Well I did the view Plugin Load Errors and it was on there, so what do I have to do? Quote
Simon Brown Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Also are you using the latest version of Paint.NET. Quote
Hitman H94 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 File: C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects\Smudge.dll Effect Name: pyrochild.effects.smudge.Smudge Full error message: This plugin is incompatible with this version of Paint.NET. But when I click search for updates it says there are none Quote
pyrochild Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Go download the latest version of Smudge. Paint.NET only updates itself; you have to update plugins manually. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!

Sarkut Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) jebllard03, Try again, following these instructions, exactly. Boltbait plugins: Download the zipped file to your Desktop or Downloads folder. Open the zip by left-clicking it. Copy/paste the plugin files to your Effects folder. Program Files/Paint.NET/Effects BoltBait Plugins ======================================================= Best to install plugins with Paint.NET closed. Edited July 12, 2010 by Sarkut Quote

Sarkut Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) I can't read that. Pls. redo screenshot. http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/ Edited July 12, 2010 by Sarkut Quote
Sarkut Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Okay, I've deciphered the screenshot. It says "The image type is not recognized and cannot be opened." There are a few things that could cause that. What specifically did you do immediately before that error message came up? For example, did you double-click a plugin file? Did this happen when you clicked on the zipfile? Something else? Quote

Sarkut Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) Okay, it sounds like your OS file associations for .zip extensions are screwed up. What OS version are you using? (XP, Vista, etc.) Edited July 12, 2010 by Sarkut Quote

wheany Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Is there a way to automatically copy plugins to paint.net/effects? I want to sync the plugins of two machines automatically (using Unity). One is an XP machine, other is a Windows 7 machine. On the XP machine things go smoothly, Unity runs and is able to copy all the dlls to and from the plugin directory, but on the Windows 7 machine, I get an "Access denied" even when I run the synchronization script as an Administrator. I understand that this is a security feature and I don't want to disable that, if possible. To answer my own question: You can set a scheduled task to run when a user logs in, and set that task to run at the highest privileges. Of course you can make the task run at certain times as well. Hiielind Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hi, I'm the new here. I intalled this package as told but cant extract it, says: Access is denied What should I do? Thank U! Quote
Sarkut Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hello Hiielind, Please tell us specifically which plugin pack you are trying to install. Also, what Windows version are you using? (XP, Vista, etc.) Quote
Hiielind Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) Hi again, I installed BoltBaitPack.zip (79.85K) from here: http://forums.getpai...?showtopic=8318 I have Windows7 and package is installed to C:/Program Files/Paint.NET/Effects folder Edited August 6, 2010 by Hiielind Quote
Sarkut Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) Try installing using the instructions in this link: Copy only the plugin .dll files to the Effects folder, not the zip. Edited August 6, 2010 by Sarkut Quote
