Recommended Posts

There's a name I haven't heard in a while ...

Great result from the both of you's. Never easy getting things to blend in a collaboration and you've both managed it nicely

Doughty, it was Peter Pawn who gave me much help & encouragement in creating jewels. The background was called "heartache" but PP's addition is like a friend who gives you a shoulder to cry on,

Skullbonz & DrewDale, PP also does a lot with fractals so the addition of the roto-tube just lifted the image. The fractal is like a soft embrace for me.

Dug, dream team - :D I like that. PP saw the wallpaper & knew that it was just begging for a gem & the beginnings of an idea formed.

Welshy & Yellowman, it has been a long time. He's ventured into new areas but I still see him on dA.

Lovely description Pixey. :D

DarkShock, I'd love to see a collab between you & Welshy.

As for names we have not heard from in a while, here's a collab between Patty (aka. Sokagirl, Redeemer, Undead-Academy). Patty no longer post here but you can see her amazing fractals here: http://undead-academy.deviantart.com/ Her work with Mandlebulb is inspiring.

Done. I'm going to PM him now.

This should be quite a fusion piece ... 2 different styles I can't imagine Dark' may end up getting a plane ticket to strangle me !

Really Interesting collab' with Patty. Complicated but not (if you know what I mean). Dark definitely meets dark meets hope in this one

How is Patty, I keep meaning to catch up with folks there but time and not feeling so good is limiting my pc time lately and the only thing I seem to do is open up pdn or come here. Tell her I'm asking about her.

Oh, barbie, these images are all so splendid!

Incredible texture for the Victorian image. Cool shot of the borage flower. It's all furry and everything.

"Let's Be Daring" has a lot of great colors running into each other. And "Sundown" looks so delicate and elegant. :)

Helen sums it up for me on Sundown - "Delicate and Elegant"  ... I was searching for the words in my small vocabulary and they're perfect (maybe I struggled because they're 2 words I'm not !!)

In fact she sums up each image so well.

Victorian is great.  Awesome textures and I just want to scrape the background with my nails.  It brings Edgar Allan Poe to mind

Excellent pieces again

Absolutely beautiful images!  What an eclectic foursome :rainbow: .   The edible flower is so soft and furry.  Victorian is superb - the texture of the BG is wonderful.  Let's be daring - so floaty and peaceful.  And finally, Sundown - I just love it and it ticks all my boxes ... pink, glossy, soft with a gorgious gemstone.  Lovely pieces to feast my tired eyes upon at the end of the day thumbsup.gif

Cool quartet, Borage, excellent macro shot.  It has so many healthy properties no garden should be without it.

Victorian: Screams E.A.Poe. The texture brings out the crow just right. A bit darker it would be so creepy. Love it.

Lets be Daring: I just love how you have managed to make pastel colours so bright and alive.

Sundown: Have to agree with Welshy on Helen's description she summed it up in two words.  "Delicate and Elegant"

As I started cool quartet.

Thank you all for your positive feedback.

It seems that I have achieved what I set out to do with these images :D

Dug & Welshy, thanks for the detailed feedback on Victorian. It was a new way of working for me. Not at all easy :D

Here are some new images. They all started out as photos I took of plants in the garden. Some are heavily manipulated, others just a bit.

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/321/3/a/night_before_christmas_by_barbieq25-d6ujz37.png

Night Before Christmas - started out as a Clivia, a bulb.

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/321/9/7/midnight_oasis_by_barbieq25-d6ujz0x.png

Midnight Oasis - a type of bulb/lilly, name unknown.

Lightness of Being - a cactus flower

You've outdone yourself barbieq! They all look amazing. I didn't even know they started out as photos from your garden until I read what you posted.

Amazing work!

Well, Dark Shock, I've been prattling on about PDN being an image editor, so I thought maybe I should just do that. Most of the photos were not great but seemed like a waste to delete them. I know, its only digital but being a baby boomer, waste is waste :D

Laplacian Pyramid Filter is one of my fave plugins & featured quite a bit in these esp. Night Before Christmas. Jitter at high settings is also a fave. I love the bands it creates. Sometimes I just cut them out & put them on their own layer as in Curtain Call.

Sharpen also does amazing things as in Comfort Brings.

Here are the originals so you can see what has been done:

Apparently not good to photograph plants when there is high winds...don't have 2 large dogs playing at your side either :P

wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow ... nope I'm not a dog (well I am) just appreciation of 6 really great new images

Lightness of Being ... stunning.   As is Midnight Oasis - like it's been dipped in metallic paint.  Awesome colour for a car actually

Excellent macro shots too.  I can never get tired of looking at flowers.  Such a great pastime to have cultivating something until it's mature ... and unlike kids they don't answer back.

Thanks for sharing those B'
