DrewDale, thank you for your kind comments.

Helen, shadows can make or break a piece. I'm glad you think it looks modern :D I just love doing that style of faces :D

Welshy, the pink was the reddish flower looking thing but I overdid the blur & then the S3D took on that shape & I felt it just needed to be there to lend contrast/balance to the rest of it. Love the play on words too :D B & W, things are never as they seem & we all wear a mask at times. Often they are different masks for each situation :D

Daniels, thanks so much for your kind comment too. Backgrounds is what I agonise over all the time...

Latest piece is the larger version of the winning SOTW entry. Art Deco is my thing.

This is my first ever SOTW win & LOTW too. 4 years I waited :D

The metal texture was inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh's famous chair http://media.bauhausitaly.com/articoli/fonte/402mackintosh_30.jpg & followed Welshy's excellent tute for pitted engraved metal http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/19274-engraved-embossed-pitted-metal/?&pid=327924&st=0entry327924

Very inspiring gallery, to comment on only one would be unfair, I do like the art deco one a lot, it looks even better in large format. I keep getting drawn into the center of the image beyond the text. Worth the comp win for sure.

Lloyd, thanks for the lovely comment. From what I have seen of your work you will be one to watch too.

Welshy, I felt that it had to be seen in the larger format. It just really came together. I adore art deco - so much so that we are looking to buy a house that was built in 1920 :D

Aw, thanks Helen.

Thanks to you also Skullbonz :D Paris Hat was interesting to do. I got really side-tracked from what I intended but very happy with the outcome.

My young friend & former student loved the work so much that she asked me to incorporate the doggies paws style with the Paris Hat background but with a pentagram for her cover page on FB. She loves it! Not the photo of her so much but the whole thing :D

Here it is to save you scrolling to the fron page :D

It's a very nice banner! Besides the stunning textures in the background, I love how you made the face color match the pinkish tones in this image. It all blends so well together.

Again, such a lovely piece from you. Great gold designs, too.

Well apparently Photobucket has gone & busted all the thumbnails. So now I will have to update all of the links. Thanks to Welshy for showing me how to use dA for my images. I will be updating slowly because there are just so many of them.

In the meantime here is one that I did about 6 months ago but for some reason never made on here at all. I dedicated it Welshy then & now. Enjoy!

Glamourous, with plenty of impact. That's what I say about 'Shadows of the Heart'.
Question: how do you make those rings interlace? Was it by doing them in different layers and erasing parts of them? :^

Edit: It was 'do', instead of 'so'.

Yes Beta0 & quite often I used transparent gradient to do the cutting.

Take a look at this great video tute by Yellowman:

I tried to update my gallery but it wouldn't accept the copied size & it was late so for now it stays as it is until I can figure it out.

Thank you for your positive feedback :D Always appreciated.

Ah, Welshy, we must have hit "Post" at the same time. Yes, a moody piece done around Christmas time last year. I'm thinking that it may already be in there somewhere since I stopped updating the gallery page. Oh well.

You are of course quite correct Yellowman. It does go back some time. I forgot that I did post it up. I have now managed to update my gallery with all link going back to Deviant Art. It was quite an undertaking.

One of the issues was that in Word I would get b% & other bits of code that had to be taken out & if I didn't use the full editor it was much easier.

There could be some new works in this lot not yet posted on here but I hope too that I didn't double up.

Dug, thanks so much for the positive feedback.

AFG, always wonderful to get a visit from you :D I miss your valuable input here but I am happy knowing that you are doing what you love & working hard at it.

Matt, many thanks!

Finally, I have created a couple more wallpapers after such a long time doing nothing more than comp entries.

The Purple Aurora was inspired by the Aurora tute & the Stone Paint was inspired by the old paper tute.
