Coloring Question

Is there anyway you can color pictures like these using Paint.NET. I've been messing around with mine for a while but can get it right.

What do you mean by colouring?

Changing the Hue of an image, colour an image, recolour an image??

You'll want to duplicate the layer, run Gradient Map (search is your friend) on the new one, and put the colors you want to tint the photo with on the slider (colors towards the left will affect darker colors, colors towards the right will affect lighter images.) Don't worry if the image doesn't have much contrast at this point. After playing with colors, choose a blend mode (press F4) for the gradient-mapped layer. I suggest looking at Overlay, but you can use whatever you think fits best. Also, play with the layer opacity.
