How to save multi-format icons

Recommended Posts

I have installed the latest version of the Icon format plugin. I think I've read something about saving multi-format icon files (i.e. 16, 32 and 48 pixel sizes in one icon file) in the forum, but I couldn't find any documentation about the plugin. I have tried to put all three sizes of images in separate layers and select the right icon formats, but it would only save all layers merged into the icon, not separated by size.

How can I use Paint.NET (and this plugin) to create icons that contain multiple size formats?

I took a brief look at the source code with .NET Reflector but wasn't able to follow its traces. I'm not familiar with plugin development for Paint.NET.

If you really want to work with icons, I suggest Axialis IconWorkshop, http://www.axialis.com/iconworkshop/

It's what I used for stitching together the Paint.NET app icon. (although the graphics were created beforehand in Paint.NET at a larger size)

You only need to have a single layer containing your icon. Say, 128x128 pic with it. You don't need to manually create the separate sizes.

Then just select all the sizes you want the icon to contain and they're resized automatically from the image.
