Rick Brewster Posted November 2, 2009 Share Posted November 2, 2009 The main features you get with Pro vs. Home are 1) the ability to encrypt files (it's part of the file system), 2) Remote Desktop server, 3) Windows XP Mode. It also gives you the ability to join a domain, which is important for businesses. And, personally, I think the blue color of the box is way cooler than the green of Home Pro is now a proper superset of Home, unlike Vista Business vs Vista Home, where the latter had Media Center but the former did not. There isn't much reason to buy Ultimate anymore, unless you want BitLocker (full disk encryption). I picked up a few copies the other day ... I love windows 7 so far! So simply, yet so much easier. Nice. I'm on a Gateway, too. Which model did you get? On a DX4300-11. The one with the AMD Phenom Quad-Core processor. The only thing is I am having problems getting internet connected to my new computer. We have another desktop at our house with the internet and a router set up, but I needed to get internet setup.
