How do I delete all of a color from canvas?

I need to delete a specific color in my canvas - white. I just need to delete the white and only the white. How would I go about that? Can I set the eraser to replace with nothing?

You just need to select the white and press the delete key.

Try using the magic wand and Shift-Click on a white area. When you have all the white selected, press Delete.

That won't work because I've got many little areas in multiple images, and I'm using a macro program to automate it.
