Rick Brewster
Well that was a short beta test period, wasn't it? Like I said this isn't really a 'major' release like 2.5 or 2.6 were, it's more of a .01 release along with some bundled effects that have already been available for awhile. And it also accomplishes moving all the Paint.NET clients out there to start pinging the new website domain for updates (instead of the old hosting that was on .edu). So a .01 version bump just wasn't enough. There was also 1 little bug fixed, it was one of the more annoying ones though. Anyway get it via the updater (File -> Updates -> Check Now), or from the website, http://www.getpaint.net New stuff in this release: * New effect: Glow * New effect: Bulge * New effect: Polar Inversion * New effect: Tile Reflection * New effect: Twist Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html

Rick Brewster
Ok, someone was asking for a screenshot of 3.0 in some other thread (the "2.70 Beta 1 is available" thread, IIRC). So here's a screenshot. Illnab1024
In concurrence with the Vista live preview thing, hows for a function to create a larger preview when you hover over the image? Like so: Except more refined and antialiased. I suppose just make it 50% of the window size and resize the image as so. And an option to turn this off? PS: That tools window looks better without the tolerance bar. Quote ~~
Rick Brewster
I'm not so sure that would really help. That screenshot is at 75% size, so the "real" thumbnails will be easier to identify. Plus then you would end up with up to 3 copies of an image on screen (ack!), and it would make it harder to, for instance ... overload the thumbnail as sort of a "navigator" for when you are zoomed in on the image. Illnab1024
Its a cultural difference, wontstoptalkinga. I am sure that this sounds like a very good compliment in Dutch (or is it German?), but it just doesn't work that well in English. Rick Brewster
Somebody was asking about color palettes for Paint.NET ... well, lots of people have been. ^ Oh my, what is that in the lower left corner? There are other enhancements for the "More" mode that I'll be implementing in just a bit too. Illnab1024
Well that makes for one more great feature for 3.0... Amazing watching this thing grow. And wow! BoltBait
Somebody was asking about color palettes for Paint.NET ... well, lots of people have been. ^ Oh my, what is that in the lower left corner? There are other enhancements for the "More" mode that I'll be implementing in just a bit too. Will those colors be preset or will we be able to set them (like in Paint) or will it be a history of the last colors selected? Will we be able to left click on them for primary color and right click on them for secondary color? BTW, I recently tried out the new GIF output and must say, I'm highly impressed. Thank you for making that great improvement. (You may recall that this was something that I asked for back in the old message board.) trickman
will we be able to SAVE our palletes? It would be really great!
Rick Brewster
The idea is to have a current, default, and custom palettes. The current palette is just what you see on screen at the moment. Changes to this palette are auto-saved whenever you make changes, and will always be reloaded the next time you start Paint.NET. The default palette is hard coded in to Paint.NET and is your typical white, black, red, green, blue, etc. Right now it's just copied from MS Paint. The first time you start Paint.NET this is loaded as the current palette (there will also probably be a "reset to default palette" option or something). As for custom palettes, you can export (save) the contents of the current palette into a palette file. You can also import (load) the contents of a palette file into the current palette. Changes to the current palette must be manually saved back into the palette file (custom palettes are not auto-saved). Palettes can hold 60 colors. In "less" mode you can only see 24 of them. BoltBait
In 3.0, since you've moved the primary/secondary color indication out of the Tools docker, how will you know what your primary and secondary colors are when the Colors docker is hidden? Will this indicator be moved to the tool bar? Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Computer Dominos Game
Illnab1024
I would suggest tapping F8. I hide the Tools window as much as I do the Colors window. Quote ~~
