XP - Windows Installer - specific to Paint.net

Recommended Posts

Windows XP Media Center Edition - Version 2003 - Service Pack 3

Paint.net downloaded from CNET. Installation stopped instantly.

Problem 0xc0000135

So.......

I have just downloaded SP2 from Microsoft

I have just downloaded .NET framework from Microsoft.

I the retried with a NEW Paint.net download from CNET!

It stopped in mid installation.

"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A Program required for this install to complete could not be run.

I trust there is nothing wrong with the CNET and Microsoft packages.

Any solutions please?

Which .NET Framework version did you install?

Also, it is an early alpha/experimental/preview version, but can you try installing Paint.NET v3.5? There have been significant improvements to the installer, viewforum.php?f=46

Thank you. I shall try 3.5. Because the fault report from paint.net is incorrect.

"There is a fault with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run", cannot be true. The correct windows installer for XP has now been again downloaded just to be sure,

WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe.

The fault is NOT with the windows installer package. It simply must be with the paint.net package.

I'll be back!

Paint.NET requires both the .NET framework and the Windows Installer to be current.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
