Separate effects on another layer

Recommended Posts

Newbie question,

Say for example I use drop shadow to create a cool shadow. How do I get this effect on a different layer than the source material. Saw something about alpha channels but what are they and how do they help me here?

Regards

Kevin

Which effect would you like to use on the other layer?

If your using drop shadow, it's quite easy:

duplicate the layer you want to drop shadow on( :DuplicateLayer: )

go to drop shadow on the lower layer ( yhsjjie-9.png )

settings:

You choose the first 6 settings, the only one you need is the last one,

keep original image-checked

you might need some anti-aliasing:

feather:

viewtopic.php?t=2498

basic anti-alias:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22082

anti-alias:

viewtopic.php?t=6567

That's all I could find from the search.

edit:

One for I forgot, feather selection:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26238

"The truth is just an excuse for having a lack of imagination."

Photobucket sucks!
