They confirmed a new revision some time ago... Also, it will not be by 2011-2012, they changed that to around 2015. They are putting a lot of weight on Project Natal to be a near "New Console" release around late 2010. If they want to push that hardware as much as they are saying now, then don't expect the 720 until a while after that.

Also, expect no media input device beyond SDHC. By 2015, Games on Demand (the new download service to be launched in August) will be the main medium for purchasing and storring games. No Blu-Ray, no nothing. All digital and streamed.

That's a pipe dream. Too many people don't and won't have the bandwidth/time combination to download 20GB+ games when they could just walk/drive to the nearest store and pick up a physical copy.

EDIT: 2015? Nevermind.

@ Pyrochild: Six years ago the majority of Internet users in America were still connected via Dial-Up. If in six years you don't think we will be able to increase our bandwidth technology on that same scale, then yes my idea may seem like a 'pipe dream'. If they are ready to allow full downloads of 360 games in August of '09 (That is around 6.77gb a download), then I think it is safe to say they will be ready for the same - in larger numbers and quantities - by the time they think about launching the 720.

Bah, I'm not even going to think about new consoles. Even Nintendo says they'll be using the same old Wii for the next 3+ years. Sony's PS4 will be even farther away, with a rumored slimmer PS3 supposedly coming next year (the original rumor was for this year). They're not developing game systems like cars from the 60s anymore (change every aspect of the car each year); they're taking it like TVs (a something new every ~5, whether it be size, resolution, ect.).

Then there's mobile devices...

The new PSP Go is kinda nice, but not worth the money (you could buy an iPod touch with that!). I also read that Nintendo has scrapped ideas for a new GameBoy, so they're probably going to stick with the DSi for many years to come. Depending on the awesomeness of the ZuneHD, Microsoft may enter the mobile gaming ranch as well, but I honestly don't think it can beat what Apple is dishing out.

I haven't heard anything about Sony developing PS4 but they're probably working on it or at least, developing new tech on it.

As for the Wii 2... if that happens it will break the hearts of (hardcore) Nintendo fans everywhere as the Wii was the worst thing to happen to them. But of course, Nintendo likes money so I wouldn't be shocked if they actually did it.

Note: that's just my opinion.

Not a 16GB one (MSRP, anyway), but yeah. Although, the iPod Touch isn't a gaming system. It all depends what you're looking for, really.
