Ilaith
Paint.net has worked for me for a long time now, i've never run into any trouble with it until some days ago. When trying to launch Paint.net, when trying to uninstall it, when trying to open the downloaded installer i get the following error: There is no pdncrash.log file on my desktop or anywhere else on the Harddrive. The system log tells me this: ProduktPaint.NET Problem APPCRASH Datum 2009-05-26 17:12 Status Rapport har skickats Beskrivning Stopped working Problemsignatur Händelsenamn: APPCRASH Application Name: PaintDotNet.exe Application Version: 3.36.3158.38068 Application Timestamp: 48b23e68 Fault Module Name: KERNEL32.dll Fault Module Version: 6.0.6001.18215 Fault Module Timestamp: 4995354a Exception Code: e0434f4d Exception Offset: 000000000002619d OS-version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Språkvariant-ID: 1053 Extra information om problemet Bucket-ID: 5073674 Anyone know how to resolve this issue. I would try reinstalling paint.net but i can't uninstall and the installer doesn't work anyway.

iPodLover
OK. Let's help. Since you have the problem while opening the installer, the OS is the troublemaker. Even if PDN was damaged, the installer would work further. Try reinstalling the .net framework, try opening some other .net based apps (Office, Visual Studio), try restarting the computer, check for viruses, try installing something else, update to the newest version of PDN (I see You have 3.36), try downloading it again, log as an administrator, check for permissions on the disk. By the way, what means "Rapport har skickats"? I don't understand. Sorry for the German jokes. Auf Wiedersehen

Ilaith
First of all the language is Swedish. Everything it says in Swedish is more or less unimportant for the error log. I can't update since the update installer also is broken. I'll try reinstalling .NET since i think some other software has messed with it. iPodLover
The OS is broken. If .net cannot reinstall itself, try reinstalling the OS.

Andrew D
Please don't take IPodLover's advice in telling you what to do, if it's a problem with .NET itself take it up with somewhere like http://stackoverflow.com/ in where you'll get very good tech upport. Andrew D
... Or reinstall the operating system. Which should only be used as a last resort, not as the second thing which pops into you're head.

HITMAN-X-
The problem sounds like the .NET Framework. Make sure it is enabled and running fine. Be sure to check for updates as well as you may be missing a hotfix. Also have you installed any programs that use the .NET framework, or got a tablet that may be interfering with the startup. ... Or reinstall the operating system. Umm, ya do NOT do that. Everything else on your PC works fine but PDN and maybe a few other .NET programs. But your OS is not damaged. I am sure the problem can be fixed if troubleshooted. Quote DEXTUT.COM

Ilaith
Nope it wasn't .NET. Other apps using the framework work fine and updating it didn't help either. When trying to reinstall i now get an error message from Windows Installer: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. So apparently the software has just turned corrupt. So now i ask for instructions how to remove Paint.NET from my system without using the Windows Installer so I can try to reinstall it.
