Program For Combining Songs/ Clipping and Joining?

Recommended Posts

hey guys,

is there a free program that can be downloaded that can take mp3 tracks and clip them and join them together to make one whole different song?

i was thinking about this a while ago, but a google search only came up with Acid. that costs money, so no.

You should get the Win7 theme for XP. Then get the rest of Win7. Then uninstall XP. Then it'll really look nice. ~ David Atwell

Check out http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ . Best I've seen.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

@cazaron.. do you mean ready loops you just mix and connect them and make your on musics, or you want to cut clips from several songs and join them( like remix thing)?

If you you want the first option then the Acid XPress 5.0a build 152 does that, and its free but some features are disabled.

But if you mean the 2nd, then as david said AudaCity is the best, but don't forget to download also the MP3 plugin because Auda doesn't support mp3 saving.

If you're looking for a straight-up waveform editor, go with Audacity. You can work with audio like it's a text document - highlighting, copying / pasting, applying effects. And it's free, which is always awesome.

alright, thanks for your input. i have audacity now, and am trying it out, it seems to do okay, but the UI is a bit "only friendly if you understand any of it" thing, which i dont :P

I too have Audacity and like it very much. I have used it on some of my videos to splice music tracks together. There are also some really nice and useful sound effect generators built in. Probably the best thing about it is you can zoom in on the track for very detailed editing. I think this would be useful for what you want to do.
