I am teaching a summer camp using this program. I have found a few tutorials to use, but was wondering if there was any kind of a book (not an e-book) that I could purchase or download to help me plan out the course work. My students will be 5th grade and up. I was going to teach them photoshop but my school can not get licensing for it. I have compared the two programs and they have some similiar aspects. If all else fails I can use my photoshop textbook and data files and wing it, but would rather not. I am not familiar with PdN and have 30 days to get familiar with it. This will be a 5-day camp running from 9-4 each day and I am teaching two camps in this program.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure pdn is what you're looking for, I suggest you first get a bit familiar with it and then decide if you're going to use it.

History repeats itself, because nobody was paying attention the first time.

Yes this is the program I want to use. I just need some simple projects that I can teach my student. I learn programs very quickly and have been experimenting a great deal with it. So any help is appreciated.

Are you having prior access to the computer's your students will use? (ie: to install any necessary plugins?)

How long will each session be? Will you run from one session to the next with the same add on item or wish something quick and easy to just get them started.

Any idea of what type of items you wish them to make? or will appeal to your students.

If you are familiar with photo shop or another program and wish a translation tut of a suitable project, let us know.

Yes I have prior access and admin rights to install any plug-ins as needed

Each session is Mon-Fri 9am to 4pm ( two different weeks for two camps) also dreamweaver for 2 weeks)

Example of week ( to be changed as needed)

Monday, introductions, talk about photoshop and its cost, talk about PdN. Comparing the two programs, going over tools and icons and letting them explore.

Tuesday-finish up with the icons, filters, colors ect in the morning and in the afternoon walk them thru a project, I was thinking the exploding planets that I saw earlier would be a good one to do

Wednesday -do another hands on project with my guidance possibly doing some web graphics or maybe creating sigs

Thursday-lay out guidlines for Friday's Contest and let them work on their own with assistance from me and my assistant

Friday Morning - finish up their contest entries in the morning and the party and judging in the afternoon

The main idea behind this camp is to introduce students to programs that are new to them, let their imaginations, analytical thinking, exploring, letting them learn on their own what works and looks good, and teamwork (helping each other etc)

One other note the kids are paying 110.00 for the camp so they and the parents need to feel they are getting their money's worth.

I am a very good teacher and I can learn programs very very quickly and I have been exploring the differences between the two programs and I think this will work. I am very very familiar with photoshop just need to refresh my skills a bit. The first camp starts June 29th so I have time to learn as well.

OMA I tried to send the compressed data files from my Photoshop text book, but I think the file is still to big, if you don't mind can you pm your private email so I can send them to you?
