cazaron
This is another Debate Thread, for guitarists/bassists. Whats best, and why? Quote You should get the Win7 theme for XP. Then get the rest of Win7. PineappleQc
well, as a former guitarist and now bassist, I personnally prefer bass over guitar since I do not enjoy "soloing". What I like the most in music is strange time signatures, weird rythms, and experimental sounds. I enjoy giving the the punch and base of the music, not improvising. And when I play guitar, it's usually chord experimentation. That said, it depends a lot on the personnality of the musician, I like rythms, others might not. Crazy Man Dan
I'm a lead guitarist, so I think my vote is pretty obvious... That being said, as a lead guitarist, if you don't have a good rhythm to play off, or a good bass line to keep the melody anchored, it all falls apart. So, all of them are necessary, but it's the lead guitarist that all the ladies prefer. david.atwell
Bass and lead? Both are united against the drummer. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
cazaron
i play guitar. therefore, whatever i say is biased as much as i love bass, you just cant rival that epic thing you can do with a guitar, and that is the wonder called lead soloing. guitars are the best, and pesonally, im a rhythm guitarist, but i play lead licks on occasion, usually just when im learning songs off itunes... Yeah, right. You forgot the lead singer. I'm sad to say, I was a keyboardist. Crimson
Yeah, right. You forgot the lead singer. I'm sad to say, I was a keyboardist. Woohoo, keyboardist! I once had to simulate a bass with a keyboard since we lacked an actual bass player...it was interesting. Anyway, having never played either instrument for more than ten minutes (which, by the way, will change once piano auditions are over), I can say that I feel the lead guitar would be more interesting to play; you get to experiment more. The very last band I played in had six members. Two keyboardists, a lead guitar, drummer, and two female singers. We took turns playing the bass lines on the keys for most of the sets. We were a "dance band" (yuck) for the first two or three sets. But once the crowd had a chance to get a few drinks in them and the older people went home, we cut loose with the rock and roll. At that point we played everything from Elvis, the Beatles, old 50's rock, and even AC/DC. I played bass guitar on the 50's tunes, and the other keyboardist played bass on the newer rock stuff. I loved that band. I know this is about lead guitar/bass guitar but two other instruments have the same improv abilities as the lead guitar. The saxophone and the human voice.
