nice poem, I think that wonderful place you were talking about in your poem is the Paint.NET forums :D

Here is my first sonnet :D

Hidden Content:
Clocks

Time passes so quick,

Everything all in a flash,

Like throwing a dog a stick,

Those sticks burning to ash.

Joyous memories never seem to begin,

Where distressful moments last for eternity,

The red second hand circles within,

Every second of every day with agility,

The gears inside a clock turn slower they say,

When life is fragile and at points of breaking,

But when people are laughing and enjoying their day,

The clock speeds up to cause everybody an aching,

So please when you hear a clock ticking from its gears,

Destroy it so that peoples' lives extend in years.

Sorry to get nit-picky, but that's technically not a sonnet. Your poem does have 14 lines, and is in the correct rhyme scheme. However, all of the lines should be ~10 syllables, each in iambic pentameter.

So your poem is ALMOST a sonnet. And it's a good poem as well.

yes, thanks for the notice ;) Yeah, my teacher said we didn't have to completely follow the "Sonnet" guidelines. I am glad you liked it :D

Here's a poem I wrote recently hope you like it.

Eternity

Weary of the empty staircase, the light revealed shone from your face

Within arms reach, the breathtaking kiss, bathing in the sun drenched bliss

No pain unendurable, no price too high, to go with you, to live in the sky

To be going so fast without moving at all, to be up so high while still in freefall

The bright burning candle lighting the way, the best thing of all, this time this day

In this land we spend hours in perpetual sun,

This place where hearts are made free, where hearts are made one

Yet in this place, so bright like the star, The wings of an angel can fly only so far

Where joy once was, fear soon took it’s place, taken away by the harsh fall from grace

It mattered no the words that were spoken, nay… The chains of the heart lay shattered and broken

The sun no longer shone in the world around me, instead only hatred and sadness and cruelty…

Deafening silence was the war in my head, with my happiness crushed, my heart left for dead

Wishing I left, wishing I stayed, the selfless compassion so cruelly betrayed

How long will you continue to live beneath my skin? How long will it be until I am made whole once again?

As the days become weeks, and the weeks become years, your face, once burned upon my eyes becomes less and less clear

As you fade from my mind so slowly it seems, I am no longer waiting for you in my dreams

The taste of your lips, the feel of your skin, all fade from memory as I wander alone once again

When finally I find my sanity returns, the lost ship back to its port, A life’s worth of pondering could never teach me eternity was so short.

The essence of innocence,

Their minds shall always wander,

Begging to stay outside a little longer.

An imagination that will never end,

But such little time they have to spend.

Pretending to fight lions and tigers,

Examining the delicate web of a spider.

The world is a giant adventure,

In the eyes of a little youngster.

No thought of responsibility,

Exploring the world with great curiosity.

Oh I wish I could go back in time,

To experience that beautiful childhood of mine,

But alas it cannot be so,

I cannot go back I simply must let go.

hows that?

To Heaven (inspired by Romeo & Juliet):

Hidden Content:
My hearts skipped a beat.

Though we will never meet.

For family view,

Stands in between me and you.

Our love so bright,

That it would banish even a shadow.

So we run away,

To a better day.

A disease between both houses.

Created by ignorance and hate.

But, unlike them,

We are born with this gift.

One that has shown us light.

This gift,

The gift of love.

So lets go to the friar.

Show him are desire.

But forced before two men you are.

Let me be your guiding star.

I'll guide you to heaven.

There we'll be together, forever.

Eye of The Storm: (inspired by, well you can guess):

Hidden Content:
In the eye of the storm.

There's no where more beautiful.

With the cool rain,

And the warm sun.

The only place where both bats, and birds fly.

A place where you can see both cloud and sky.

Where there's 2 forms of light,

One formed from a lightning strike,

Another from the Sun's flight.

A place of both wet and dry.

Where you see both sides,

One dark, and dull,

Another bright, and vivid.

As if a metaphor,

That the world is balanced.

That the world is both good and bad.

That you need to sit on the eye,

To see both at once.

To see the true beauty bestowed on the earth.

To see where the worlds collide;

One cold,

One warm.

Only in the eye of the storm.

At Last I Come To An End:

Hidden Content:
I will tell you what I'm not,

And what I am.

I'm not heartless,

Only soulless.

I am not cold,

I've just never found warmth.

I am not fearless,

I just don't care.

I lost the good,

And was left with the bad.

Tortured day in,

And day out.

No reason to continue.

Alive for no purpose.

No potential.

Nothing, but neutrality,

In my life.

So why go on?

The answer is simple,

I neither gain from life,

Nor gain from death.

I am doomed to live,

If I can call this living.

What makes me live?

Is it because I have a heartbeat?

I've lived without before.

Is it because I am 'loved'?

I like to see that proven.

I do not live simply because I breathe.

I live only in the realm of the past.

Only view the present as torture.

The future is nonexistent to me.

I can not move on,

Not when I have no reason.

Does this life even make me existent?

Whose life has mine helped?

I was never meant to stay here in a world of nothingness,

I was meant to live in a world where I could help.

At last I will come to an end,

At last I will know my purpose.

My purpose was so pointless,

That I could not see it.

My purpose was to die.

I was never meant to exist.

I was only meant to 'live'' to die.

I should of not been here if this was my purpose.

I should have left this land a long time ago.

I should have never came here.

I was born amongst humans with broken wings.

One black and webbed like a bat's,

One white and feathered like a bird's.

Born with them a horn and halo.

The horn so sharp,

That it would cut the closest to it, me.

The halo so bright,

That it would blind me.

Cursed,

And now it all comes to an end.

I will remove the curse,

With this blade,

So sharp,

So bright.

Tonight is the night.

The night that I will end this internal fight.

^sorry for the length of the last poem, and yes, it's kinda emo.

First one made.... Its supposed to be about Albinism... Enjoy? :]

I walk into my classroom,

And slump into my chair.

All the children around,

Simply point and stare.

These children they hurt me,

With words and their laughter.

What is so funny I wondered,

Is my hair why they stare?

So what if its white,

and my skin too.

It’s what makes me,

That much different then you.

I lowered my head,

To cover my red-tinted eyes.

“Albino” they said,

Then I began to cry.

A boy stood and yelled,

“Hey he just like you!”

The bully turned to him,

And in response came a giggle

“What’s so funny?” he asked,

“Do you stare at his hair?”

“So what if its white!”

“And his skin too!”

“Its what makes him,

That much different then you!”

Eh?... Well please respond

What A Library Hides: inspired by a "punishment" for missing school

Hidden Content:
I go to the library,

For my punishment.

A punishment for missing school,

Feeling like a fool.

Told there to wait,

And sit 'till eight.

So I walk about the shelves,

And stares at the books.

I soon pick one out,

And take my seat.

I find myself escaping reality.

I soon place myself in the book,

To give Percy's view a look.

Soon my place took his.

Soon telling this story my way,

I become the hero of the day.

I put this book away,

And choose another.

I pick up the next.

Finding a story of a wolve,

And his human brother.

I find myself taking his place,

again.

I see through the book.

Words so vivid and unique.

I realize it's time to go,

Again putting the book away.

Walking out of the room,

I realize I learned something.

Books I once hated,

Are those I should of worshiped.

That books are gifts upon the worlds,

Inspiring mental thought,

And vivid imagination.

Which begs the question,

Why do we hate what betters our nation?

Pick up a book, give it a look,

And forever remember that day dream you took.

Very old poems:

Hidden Content:
I always say there is light in darkness,

and that only the strong will find it.

Now I see.

I am not as strong as I once was.

The pain cuts through me every night.

Day by day knowing you feel the same.

Only you fear the nightmare known as Hell.

Fearing love will send you to hell?

Never again shall I feel what I felt with you.

Never again shall I trust you.

Neither one of us were strong enough.

Neither to love, nor to hate.

We pay this price because we are not strong.

We were never strong enough to tell what we felt.

But at least I learned something.

It may not be what I wanted to learn,

but knowledge is knowledge.

that knowledge learned.....

that pain that I hate to admit.

Knowledge that cuts through me.

I learned "love doesn't conquer all".

There for we fall.

We fall to that place you feared most of all.

We are in hell.

The one place where love does not conquer all.

_______________________________

People always say,

"you got to find your way".

NO!

We don't find it,

We make it.

We walk different paths.

You can't lead.

You can't follow.

Our life is a blank canvas at birth.

We are the brush.

We create art everyday.

We draw the lines.

We make the shades.

Ultimately to make a big picture.

That represents the world.

A world that you help shape by,

representing your way.

Your life.

Your heart.

Your thoughts.

Paths may intersect.

But they never become one.

Because Life is art.

Art is passion.

There for we must hold on to life,

with ever passion in our heart,

and no one's but our own.

If we don't the picture falls incomplete.

Because the brush has forgotten a piece.

whether large or small.

One piece of the picture is as important as all.

So live life your own way.

So that we may see the day.

The day the picture becomes complete.

We all have a part in the picture.

So play it.

Even if it is just a small bit.

_____________________________

What are these voices I hear?

Are they ghost,

Or are they my fear?

I can't tell when one stops,

And when one begins.

Am I insane?

Are they real?

Are they here to hurt,

Or here to heal?

These emotions I thought I'd never feel.

Where are they coming from,

And where do they lead?

I just want to be freed!

Yelling when no one listens,

And Whispering when I want to hear.

They are something to fear.

What if they have lied.

What if they are from the other-side.

I am in shame!

They are acting as if it is a game!

Love your poem xStarburstx :D especially the first one . I have one it's very short but to the point :P

Thoughts

---------

Visions of the dead dancing in my head

Despair on their decaying faces

Reminding me of all those sad places

I sought so hard to bury deep inside

Where thoughts of death often resides .

Not a problem guys , I understand . Comment when you get the time . :P I think I have another one it's called " Vampires Embrace "

Vampires Embrace

-----------------

Standing alone in the still of the night

Like a faceless shadow hidden from light

It was then , I last saw you with despair in your eyes

Reaching out to take my hands they were cold as ice

Feeling the rapture of being captured

Locked in an embrace I could hear my heart race

Once again there came the sting

My mind started to sing " Is death what you bring ? "

I heard you whisper softly " You'll die to live another life and be forever mine . "

I've been writing poetry for a long time, but it seems its the ones that don't fit into a specific category that I like the most-

So long as THY shadow shall fall among men,

Pain, Grief, Happiness All,

Shall be but fleeting moments upon

the conciousness that shall forever desire

such experience to begin, to change,

or come to an end.

Only the few shall ever be,who shall LET it be -

and thereby experience

that something special eternal, and as the

season's renew so shall YOU.

Great poems everyone. I think I liked every single one of them. :) I decided to share mine as well. Its one of my favorites I've written and forever old. I wrote it from my 10th grade English class.

Hidden Content:
Faded dresses, Lost dreams

In a moment, nothing is as it seems

Melted candles, Love gone

With a few words, you're left alone

No one cares, and nothing matters

Beautiful is just a word, the image shatters

People grow old, the wrinkles set in

No time for change, no doing it again

Life is an enigma, another charade

Colors once so brilliant soon will fade

Nothing makes sense until the end

Hold onto your loved ones, keep close to your friends

Don't let yourself fall in love too quickly

Don't always hold back

See the world in many colors

Not just white and black

Love wholeheartedly, even when the road is rough

Tell people you care about them

No one is ever told enough

Don't hold onto the past, make it a memory in your mind

All broken hearts are healed, just give it time

It's your life, the only one you can live

Don't be afraid of love, that's the best advice I can give.
