Juraiko1324
Hey, since "Touchpads commonly operate by sensing the capacitance of a finger, or the capacitance between sensors. Capacitive sensors are laid out along the horizontal and vertical axis of the touchpad. The location of the finger is determined from the pattern of capacitance from these sensors. This is why they will not sense the tip of a pencil or even a finger in a glove. Moist and/or sweaty fingers can be problematic for those touchpads that rely on measuring the capacitance between the sensors", would it be possible to find an object or substance that could be used instead of buying a tablet? =S Quote -I may have not been here when you passed away, but you will be missed.-
jos_h2o
As my guitar teacher tells me, I have "kinda big fingers", so I find it hard to move something in PDN and leave it there without moving the cursor when I lift off of it. Also, it reduces my accuracy greatly. I've been trying out different kinds of sticks and stuff to use like a stylus. So far, I've had no luck. I figured a pencil eraser would work. Nope. If I find something, I'll post it though. Has anyone tried a stylus from a DS yet? I'm considering buying a pack of 'em just to try on this. Good luck! david.atwell
I have a feeling it would cost a lot more to build your own tablet than to just buy one. You can get a non-Wacom that works fine for $50. I bought a Genius MousePen 8x6, and it works wonderfully. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... Juraiko1324
No, no David...I mean to use the touch pad on my laptop as a tablet...and I don't have 50$ at the moment to shell out. pyrochild
Has anyone tried a stylus from a DS yet? I'm considering buying a pack of 'em just to try on this. DS Stylus will not work on that kind of touch sensor. DS screens are made of layers that physically connect when touched (resistive); laptop touchpads are capacitive and sense the proximity of a nearby capacitor* (the human finger, for one). A stylus won't have any effect on it, unless that stylus is an extremely good conductor (which a stylus is too thin to be). * or something like that Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Juraiko1324
O.o Thanks! (Dunno if that'd be feasible though >.>) Quote -I may have not been here when you passed away, but you will be missed.-
david.atwell
It won't work anyway. A laptop touchpad is relative; a tablet is absolute. Let me give you an example. On a touchpad, when you move your finger from point A to point B, the computer measures the distance between point A and point B and moves the cursor an equivalent distance from its current location. If you lift your finger from the touchpad, and move it from point A to point B again, it will move the cursor another equivalent distance from where it currently is. On a tablet, however, when you move the stylus from point A to point B, the computer moves the cursor TO point A on the screen, no matter where the cursor was originally, and then moves the cursor from point A to point B. If you lift the stylus from the tablet, and move it from point A to point B again, it will perform the exact same motion again; moving the cursor from point A on the screen to point B on the screen once more. So you can move the cursor from one corner of the screen to the other using a touchpad by moving your finger in sequential swipes across the pad. The same action on a tablet will simply move the cursor in the same line, over and over. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... Juraiko1324
Ah, thanks David...I see. *sigh*...Guess I'll have to do some extra work. Any good tablets bigger than a couple inches and don't cost terrible amounts of cash? xD Quote -I may have not been here when you passed away, but you will be missed.-
