I have a logo that I would like to add onto a photo. I have .jpg, .ai, .cdr files available to work with.

This is my logo.

The desired effect I'm looking for looks like the picture below.

So far with my attepts I've been able to make the logo transparent with the .jpg, but have been unsuccessful making it white as in the example picture below.

Any suggestions?

The logo vendor did this with thier tools, and I want to learn how to do it with Paint.NET

Thank you for your help.

There is a simple watermark tutorial which might prove useful: viewtopic.php?p=15417#p15417, especially since you're "marking the water" (sorry, couldn't resist)

for this, I took the logo you provided, then:

  • used alpha mask (with invert mask on)
    turned it black & white
    inverted colors

then pasted it all over your water picture
