lorri
Hello all! As I was just messing around with the graphics on Paint.Net, I had done something which looked rather pretty like a gem! and you know what I just can't figure out how I did it, It's annoying. Has anybody ever done that?

BoltBait
Nope. Once you close a document, the history is... well... history. Quote Click to play: Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and how about a Computer Dominos Game
oma
oh yes I can relate to this ! wait until you are working with about 20 and 30 layers and swapping between 2 and 3 open PDN's . That will be the time when someone asks you very innocently "how did you do that" then try to explain it. ciao OMA Quote  My Deviant Art Gallery Oma's Paint.Net gallery
lorri
I had found a tip for not loosing your stuff once the history is deleted. Note everything down on a piece of paper or note pad. I do that and it helps.
Aethec
Is there a possibility to transform all the history files (under C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Paint.NET\ (in XP) ...Their name is only some random numbers...) into something else ? That would be great =D (I don't want to try to save all the files / close PDN / copy and paste the files...That would probably make PDN crash...) Rick Brewster
No. This has been discussed many times before. It will never ever ever ever ever ever happen. Those files store the contents of internal data structures and are never meant to have meaning beyond the lifetime of a particular instance of Paint.NET. HITMAN-X-
Ya i understand that it just to much work but its to bad as it would be nice to export the history as a txt file so that way you could open it up and read the steps that you took to make an image. Guess you could do the next best thing. Video capture what your doing or take notes as your doing it. Quote DEXTUT.COM

To be fair I can imagine something like that being difficult to make too, but I understand. And anyways, the notepad option works much better because instead of some old history list you also get precise values for all the adjustments and effects added, which can't be obtained in the history panel. Simon Brown
If you know c# you could write a small application that starts with Windows and periodically checks whether PDN is running and if it is, saves a screenshot to a folder and voila: something to look back at if you've created something but forgotten the method.
