rainshine
I have used Photoshop for over 10 years and used it to create simple brochures and business cards. Is this something that Paint.net can also do? I am looking for a free program that compares to Photoshop and allows me to do simple layout work. Thank you! Helio
Hello, rainshine. Sure, you can use Paint.NET for print work! When creating a new document (File > New..., Ctrl+N, or the New icon ( ) in the Toolbar), notice that you may specify the size of the document according to inches or centimeters, and adjust the resolution (pixels/dots per inch/centimeter). If you would like some precision in your layout creation, I would suggest enabling the rulers, which are quite similar to Photoshop's, and can be enabled via View > Rulers or the Rulers icon ( :Rulers: ) in the toolbar. Unfortunately, Paint.NET does not have any Guide system yet, but this grid making plugin might be helpful: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4879. Also, check out the Align Object plugin: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4900—very useful as well. Quote v An excellent open–source strategy game—highly recommended. "I wish I had never been born," she said.
