Tactilis Posted Saturday at 04:19 PM Posted Saturday at 04:19 PM Please install the latest beta of 5.1.1 discussed here https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/132613-paintnet-511-beta-build-9098 and report whether you still have any problems. Quote

Rick Brewster Posted Saturday at 10:47 PM Posted Saturday at 10:47 PM I've actually managed to reproduce the "screen blanking" problem with an NVIDIA RTX A4000 GPU (it's the "pro" card that's comparable to about a GeForce 3070 but twice the RAM). Opening several (like 10+) large images (like 15,000 x 10,000 px) seems to make it happen with almost 100% reliability. Driver version is 553.35 (latest for the "pro" cards). From what I've gathered this is almost certainly an NVIDIA driver bug, but I'm investigating further to see if I can figure out exactly what PDN is doing which triggers this. Rick Brewster Posted Sunday at 12:02 AM Posted Sunday at 12:02 AM Not yet, I don't expect this to necessarily be super quick to figure out Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster Posted Sunday at 03:30 AM Posted Sunday at 03:30 AM Do you have GSYNC enabled? What happens if you disable it in the NVIDIA Control Panel? Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster Posted Sunday at 03:38 AM Posted Sunday at 03:38 AM You can also try disabling "Optimizations for windowed games" in Windows Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics. At least that's where it is in Windows 11. If any of these work, at least it points me in the right direction so I can bake a fix into the app itself so you don't have to mess with those settings at all. Rick Brewster Posted Sunday at 06:41 AM Posted Sunday at 06:41 AM Okay I think I figured out the ultimate cause behind this. At startup, Paint.NET sets up a profile with the NVIDIA driver to tell it not to use GSYNC. This code wasn't running due to a typo. Older versions of PDN just didn't work well with GSYNC, but 5.1 basically explodes if GSYNC is enabled in some cases, on some GPUs. Seems to be Ampere (GeForce 3000) mostly? Not entirely sure. 1 Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
