Issue Installing Paint.net

Everytime I try to install Paint.net from the downloads at Github, the installation process tells me that I need a CD rom. 

I'm on Windows 11. The install program keeps looking for the msi file. I'm trying to install Paint.Net 5.1  Thanks for any assistance.

The problem is during the uninstallation the existing version because it can't find the original .msi.

 

Use this utility to fully remove your previous Paint.NET installation:

Afterwards, you should be able to do a fresh install of 5.1

I ran that program and it found no sign of Paint.net

1603 indicates you have an existing paint.net installation that has become broken. Please use this utility to remove the broken installation:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed

 

Afterwards, you should be able to install paint.net anew.

I'm not sure where to go from here. That solution has worked for just about everyone else. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If it just won't install, you can always use the portable version.

@JimVZ - that's a good solution, however if you have any plugins installed in your "C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\..." folder and you want to use them, then please see the Documentation regarding Paint.NET Portable here https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/InstallPlugins.html. You'll need to copy them to the new installation folder.

Revo Uninstaller has been known to remove stubborn installations of PDN. Might be worth a look.
