vyrelis Posted Friday at 06:17 PM Author Posted Friday at 06:17 PM Still got a GPU crash on the new PDN beta 5.101.9098.33495 and with studio driver 566.14. Gonna go back to including /defaultSwapChainType=LegacyBlt until that crashes, if it will. Quote

I wonder why that did help that other person who reported it ... It might be worth reinstalling your GPU driver with the "clean installation" option checked. vyrelis Posted Sunday at 06:39 PM Author Posted Sunday at 06:39 PM I was able to work for a REALLY long time last night, probably 5 hours (game open, OBS actively recording, Discord open, 4k images with multiple layers, whole shebang) with no crash using LegacyBlt 1 Quote
Rick Brewster Posted Sunday at 06:47 PM Posted Sunday at 06:47 PM I did find some more information yesterday while debugging into the graphics issues that've been reported with 5.1. See my comment here: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/132703-paintnet-keeps-crashing-my-laptop/#findComment-641968 Do you have GSYNC enabled? Try disabling it, and then do not specify the LegacyBlt option, and see how things go. I have had code in PDN for a long time that sets up an NVIDIA application profile to disable GSYNC (for just the app, that is). This code was not working, but it's fixed for the next 5.1.1 update. At that point you won't need to disable GSYNC to use PDN. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
vyrelis Posted Sunday at 08:44 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:44 PM My monitor does not support GSYNC Quote
Rick Brewster Posted Sunday at 10:22 PM Posted Sunday at 10:22 PM You can still enable GSYNC on monitors that support FreeSync. Your display is 144Hz, and I'm pretty sure all 144Hz displays support some form of VRR* (whether FreeSync or GSYNC). What I mean is, I didn't mean specifically GSYNC, that's just what you enable in the NVIDIA control panel whether your monitor supports GSYNC or FreeSync (or etc.). * VRR stands for Variable Refresh Rate In any case, can you try this build? Rick Brewster Posted Monday at 01:11 AM Posted Monday at 01:11 AM Okay try the new 5.1.1 beta and let me know if anything is improved: Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster Posted Monday at 03:50 AM Posted Monday at 03:50 AM What if you double-click the mpo_disable.reg file from NVIDIA here? (you can use mpo_enable.reg to undo it) https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5157/~/after-updating-to-nvidia-game-ready-driver-461.09-or-newer%2C-some-desktop-apps Oh and you need to reboot after double-clicking the .reg file Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster Posted Monday at 04:14 AM Posted Monday at 04:14 AM Another thing you can try, before the mpo_disable.reg, is this command-line parameter I added for the new 5.1.1 beta (9102): /enableSwapChainAllowFlipModeTearing Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
