City
I have a panel roughly 1130 by 2650 pixels and I'm trying to recreate this effect. I would not be drawing this panel from scratch. Instead, I would be using two premade 2D characters that I can make some edits to, including making them look pseudo-3D to a limited degree. I would also be using one of several pre-drawn backgrounds. I've tried to get the effect, but I can't seem to get it right. I am also unsure which background would be the easiest to work with. Any suggestion there would be appreciated. Characters Backgrounds
Solution Tactilis Posted September 29 Solution Share Posted September 29 Have you looked at the Perspective Effect plugin? There are links in your previous post about character manipulation https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/124098-turn-the-image-of-a-2d-character-sideways
City
I have never used it before. I just took a look at it and it does look capable. I'm currently trying to think of the best way to use it. Would you be able to give any advice or tips on how to use it effectively?
City
This is what I have come up with. It is just an okay result I think, but certainly could be better. I used the perspective effect on the background and the larger character. I used the rotate/zoom effect just a little on the smaller character. I finished it up by applying an unfocus zoom to make the smaller character stand out. I know that the biggest issue with this result is the distance between the characters looks too small. I wouldn't know the way to fix it though. Spoiler
Tactilis
1 hour ago, City said: I know that the biggest issue with this result is the distance between the characters looks too small. I think: The difference in (un)focus between the small and large character is too great for the distance between them. The floor tiles immediately in front of the small character are too unfocussed and destroy the illusion of realistic depth. The tiles should be sharp in the foreground and become progressively unfocussed the further they are away.
