BoltBait
If you are trying to use the eraser and nothing is being erased, be sure you have the proper layer selected. You can only erase pixels from the currently selected layer. Perhaps the pixels you are trying to erase are actually located on a different layer. Tactilis
Glad to hear that you are no longer having a problem, but... 8 hours ago, zombscy said: i ended up redownloading paint.net and it worked! no idea what i did honestly ...that was not necessary. Re-installing is not the reason that the tools now work. I suspect that you had a selection active - maybe just a small one that you didn't notice (perhaps it was scrolled off screen) and you were trying to erase and clone outside of the selected area. See the Warning in the paint.net Documentation here: https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/SelectionTools.html#6 Re-installing paint.net, or even just restarting it will obviously clear the selection. But the right thing to do is Edit > Deselect or press Ctrl+D or Esc. If you get into this situation again, check the Status Bar at the bottom of the paint.net window. This will show if you have a selection active. For example, here's a 2 x 2 pixel selection that is easy to overlook:

This will show if you have a selection active. There are a few situations where there is a 0x0 or 0xH or Wx0 selection where this doesn't work. The status bar will not show the selection details, but it will still prevent drawing. I've fixed a number of these in 5.1. It should be significantly more difficult to cause that to happen. 1 Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
