Marilynx
So, I have these macrame instructions for which I need to recreate pictures of the knots. This i a sample of what I am trying to do. https://imgur.com/a/pgWWnN7 I've got the red and the blue on separate layers which I will eventually merge. Am I going to have to go to four layers to be able to put the lines in where the same color crosses itself? Because what I want is not necessarily to create the rope effect, but to an edge to the color. And I'm not sure how to do this. Here's an example of what you could do. Adapt as required for your needs. 1. This represents what you currently have, with the red rope on its own layer. 2. Use the Eraser tool with a Brush Size of 4 to erase lines either side of the top crossing rope. 3. Use @BoltBait's Outline Object plugin with a Width of 4 to create the outline. Marilynx
Okay, that's what I was trying to do. It wasn't working. Sorta got it now, but what I *really* need is a parallel line drawing tool with the ability to let the width of the outer lines, and the distance between them. Oh, at least two more positioning knobs. Oh well....

You'd be better off using Inkscape. There's a fairly big learning curve but it will do what you want. There are plenty of howtos and videos available. Search for phrases such as Inkscape draw parallel lines / Inkscape parallel lines that follow curves / Inkscape guide to line drawing
Red ochre
May I suggest Knotter. It is free and relatively easy to get good results (with the lines 'outlined'). It can export SVG files too, which can be used in Inkscape or imported into Pdn (via a plugin)... though it exports .png files too. https://knotter.mattbas.org/Knotter I just made this with it! 3 Quote Red ochre Plugin pack.............. Marilynx
Tactillis, Red Ochre, thank you! I will check both of those out as soon as this pesky Hurricane Francine who banging at my doors and windows is past. Power has been out a couple times. I have a whole house generator so power is not an issue, but internet connectivity is. (I am at 30N 90W. Pixey
@Marilynx take a look at this video, done by one of our members a while ago. Although the shape is slightly different than yours, the principle should be the same: 1 1 1 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. Power and internet went out Tuesday evening. Luckily, I have a whole house generator, and for smallish things, could use my phone as a hot spot. No damage. Internet came back late Friday. Pups were a bit edgy, but as I was not freaking out, they decided to take a nap.
