135boomer
How do I get the Acquire function to recognize my Cannon CanoScan D123OU scanner? Currently Paint.net only recognizes my HP Office jet 5500. However, all my other programs recognize both the HP and the CanoScan. :? Thanks Dave
Bob
Your scanner doesn't support Windows Image Acquisition on which Paint.NET is based, so your cannot acquire with it on this app. EDIT: Why can't I scan or print? There are three possible reasons. One is that you're using Windows 2000. We use WIA v2.0 (Windows Image Acquisition) for our printing and scanning functionality, and this is a system component that is not available unless you have Windows XP SP1 or later installed. Second, if you can't scan, then maybe your scanner doesn't support WIA. You can check to see if you scanner supports WIA by verifying that it shows up in the "Scanners and Cameras" control panel. Some scanners or cameras require that special software or drivers be installed before they work with WIA. Lastly, if you are running Windows Server 2003 you should know that the Windows Image Acquisition system service is not enabled by default. Simply set it to "Automatic" and it should work. No. Way. I've just seen Bob. And... *poof!*—just like that—he disappears into the mist again. ~Helio

I am currently running Windows XP Home and I just installed the latest driver for the CanoScan. The D1230u scanner does not show up in the "Scanner and Cameras" control panel. Where would I find these drivers for WIA? Thanks
Bob
The problem is that your scanner is not based on the WIA API to interact with Windows & other programs (but on the TWAIN one), and Paint.NET only implement WIA to acquire from a scanner, so you just can't acquire on PdN. Here is a List of Scanners That Are Supported by Windows Image Acquisition: http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... us;Q293356 No. Way. I've just seen Bob.
