'Light' text anti-aliasing

I think this is unfortunately a general issue with small text on desktops - fixed (perhaps) by sub-pixel rendering on windows but...

small text is really nice and sharp if not aliased, when aliased seems too blurry and gets shrunk a bit - too much difference.

An in between would be great (but I know the difficulties so probably just a comment!)

below is no-antialiasing, default antialiasing, hand-edited antialiasing

Have you investigated these rendering options for the Text tool?
