Lxndwich
I want a plugin that can alter one existing color to match another. Say I have an image like this: And I want to get it to a specific shade of yellow, like this: Using the fill tool with a low tolerance leaves some of the original color around the edges, like this: Using the fill tool with a high tolerance gives you a fill that overflows the outlines, like this: And in some cases, doing values at or above 82 just results in you flooding the entire canvas, like this: Given that I did this in a controlled environment, I was able to make a perfect example of the result I'd like in the second image, since I could just pick a random color from the hue and saturation tool. However, with something like this: I want to convert it into a style similar to the Twemoji standard for emojis, like this for example: Which, under normal circumstances, you'd think would be easy. You just apply #FFDB5E to the main colors and then outline with #EE9346 on one side at about 45 degrees. The problem is, I can't seem to get the colors accurate enough without spending hours searching for plugins and/or plugin packs, and in my case, "accurate enough" becomes an obsession with ensuring 100% accurate colors, down to the individual red, green, and blue values. One particular plugin I can find that brings me surprisingly close is Vandermotten's "Monochrome Recolor" from their "PaintDotNetEffects" plugin pack. In fact, if I tinker with it enough, I can get to only a single digit away in the Blue value on the first color I mentioned, leading me to #FFDB5F, which - in terms of a purely visual perspective - is unnoticeable, but - at least for me - unacceptable, since I want things to be fully accurate, so that I can then be more proud of making them, since - if someone with knowledge on color related stuff does eventually look at them - they can confirm that the colors are, in fact, identical. ---------------- As a side note, no, I am not this obsessive or compulsive with all the art I make. I often consider something to be close enough to be satisfying, and this is just a more extreme example of my thought process. Despite this being an extreme example, this is a regular issue for me, and I can't reasonably fix this issue without a dedicated plugin. I had this thought process occur for me last night when I was running low on sleep, and had almost completed typing it before finally dozing off at my desk. I revised a few things, touched up a few others, and removed the sleepy typos near the end before sending it, while also making this addendum. Things began to grow incomprehensible by the last three or four sentences before the separator I'd made. Edited August 12 by Lxndwich Quote Insert signature here. What is this "AA's Assistant" you speak of, and why have I never heard of it or seen it in the app? I'm using the latest release and can't see it in any menus from what I can tell. 19 minutes ago, Pixey said: 1. You will have to have your hand on one layer. 2. Draw the fingers on a new layer. 3. I simply recolored them merged them down for the purposes of sharing it here in a human-readable way. Also, what does your attached image in the second half have to do with what I asked? Does it relate to the outlines I'd mentioned? Because I have a plugin for outlining things as well, which is from pyrochild's plugin pack. How to download Plugins is found here. We do have an index where you can search for plugins that don't come with paint.net: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/15260-plugin-index/ The AA's Assistant is found here by @dpy 17 minutes ago, Lxndwich said: Also, what does your attached image in the second half have to do with what I asked The image you posted of the Emoji hand. Lxndwich
Ah, I didn't know it was a plugin. That was my bad. Also, there aren't any orange fingers - those are shaded outlines. Quote Insert signature here.
frio
You might want Single Hue or Color Filter from Ed Harvey's plugin pack, or Silhouette Plus. They all have different use cases but are useful for turning objects (things surrounded by transparency) into different colors in one go without messing with the transparency. Top left: original, bottom left: Silhouette Plus, top right: Single Hue, bottom right: Color Filter.
