How to Make the BG of Scanned Signature Transparent?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just scanned my signature to JPEG so I can include it in letters and not have to sign them manually.

I've done the following:

1. Scan my signature to JPEG.

2. Crop in PDN to make the image as small as possible.

However, the white background of my signature obscures the what's behind it. (i.e. a white square shows behind my signature.)

I would like to make the bg transparent so only my signature sits on top of the document I use it on. How do I do this? TIA for your help!

You'll need to use http://searchpaint.net to find the answer to this question. Using two of your title terms - "Background" and "Transparent," the correct tutorial was returned. :-) Thanks!

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
