quickly changing character orientation...

Recommended Posts

Long time Paint .Net user. Love the app.

I know how to rotate text (select, move tool, shift right click or ctrl + shift + z).

Also, it's possible to rotate each individual character, but it's very slow and tricky to get right.

To do it well, I'd have to create a layer for each letter. That's a lot of work to simply change text orientation from horizontal to vertical.

I want a quick way to get this:

testing

to this:

t

e

s

t

i

n

g

This is for a graphic label.

Thanks!

There's no automatic way. The best way to do it is the same way you've done it here on the forum: Hit the "enter" key after every letter.

A note, though: this impacts readability terribly. From a design viewpoint, this is a bad idea. :-) But that's how to do it if you insist.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Thanks David for the quick response and usability comments. Good call, it is ugly.
