ami7878
Can an entire layer, including its properties, be copied to a different (new or existing) image? I'm talking about doing something similar to what can be done with sheets in MS-Excel. Thanks.
david.atwell
Not automatically. But if you turn off the visibility on every other layer and save it as a .PNG, then import it into the other image, it will retain transparency. You'll still have to do blend mode manually, though. PyroTechniques
Or you can select the whole layer by using rectangle select, then hitting ctrl + c and pasting it into a new image/layer. Quote Photobucket Sucks!
david.atwell
I knew someone would say that. :-) Two problems: 1. It won't save transparency information. 2. Margin of error: you may not select the whole thing. If you're going to do it that way (that is, if you haven't changed the Transparency on the layer at all), you should use Ctrl+A to select all. But the way I posted in the original post is the only way to retain layer transparency data. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... It won't? *opens PDN and tries* Well, I'll be darned. It won't. But you could just look at the opacity number and set it to the same on the new layer... unless you're using BoltBait's Transparency plugin. Ah well. Another great idea shot down once again by the inestimable David.Atwell. (some day, I will come up with something you can't gainsay... ) Quote Photobucket Sucks! david.atwell
(some day, I will come up with something you can't gainsay... ) Undoubtedly. :-) But not today.
