HITMAN-X-
(Well I had a post done up but then I lost the WiFi from the hotel next door ... Can't wait to get home) Do I think its real. Yes I do. (I had a big post on what I seen over the years to why I think its real and I am not retyping it so sorry). Does it matter if it real or not, no we should be trying to clean up the environment anyway and doing all that we can to save our resources. It not only helps the environment but our selfs as all the stuff we put in the air and water is not good for us. That part of my out look on Global Warming. PyroTechniques
Dear heavens, not this. I deny global warming's existence, and substitute reality. I gotta agree with you there. My take on it is, we simply haven't been observing for long enough to note a definite 'trend' on the geological scale. How long have we had instruments accurate enough to measure temperature to within 10 degrees? 150 years? 200? Compare that to the 2 billion years or whatever the Earth has been around, and it doesn't amount to much. Suppose this "global warming" thing is nothing but a minor fluctuation, from the Earth's point of view? And what makes them think we caused it? They say if it gets too bad it will eventually cause another ice age - I won't go into detail about that right now. Except that there has been at least 1 ice age before, and back then there were no cars or coal-burning factories or anything of the sort. Ah, whatever. I say we just wait and see. Kemaru
I think global warming is a very important issue, but many people just don't seem to care. Many of my classmates have opinions like "It's not my problem, when/if it strikes I'll be dead anyways, so I don't have to care or "It's not real, it's an urban legend". Global warming is already noticeable here in Finland. Barnezy
Global Warming is a creation of the media. If global warming is already such a problem and cities will be sunk, then why have no towns near to coastlines flooded yet? If the ice caps are melting, why is the sea level not rising? The ice caps are in fact not melting, they have acctually grown in size over the last 10 years. The data showing that the world is heating is unreliable. Many of the thermometres that measure this are at altitude, this is to get a fair reading. But the only way to get them at such altitudes in some places is to place them on top of active volcanoes, which makes the temperatures fluctuate greatly. I could go on... but i'm tired

david.atwell
Thirty years ago, you know what the threat was? Global cooling. There was talk about spreading ash on the surface to collect rays of sun and warm the surface of the Earth. I'm with Sozo. Again. :-) Quote  The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. Zwicky
Its happening and its real and its dangerous. In New Zealand we live directly under a giant hole in the ozone layer. Because of this, our naturally hot summers and the large amount of pale skinned people in our population, we have become a recipe for skin cancer. This mysterious hole popped up in the last 30 years, and theres no way thats natural. Spring came a month early and we experienced full 30 degree (celsius) plus summer temperatures far earlier too. Ozone depleting gases are also greenhouse gases, thats a major link here. Argue with me if you think this is totally a different topic than global warming but everything connects together in the destruction of the natural environment by man. I'm not for the entire greenie outlook on life because their absolute control on many aspects of things is abhorrent and far too controlling for my liking, but I think things need to be done now. Bobofthedead
Dude, ya don't say. We've been having ridiculous temperatures here in the UK too. Last year, April was our summer: it was 30 C plus here. And, anyone saying that towns haven't been flooded yet: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7719501.stm A whole country prepared to move out of their homeland, and their first new president for 30 years scraping together funds to do it? And who's saying that global warming's a myth? Quote "I am the anarchist, I am the antichrist, I am the walrus, G'JOO G'GOO G'JOOB!" I dig a pygmy, by Charles Hawtree and the Deaf Aids. Sozo
Well obviously New Zealand is one of the earth's largest polluters. This explains the giant ozone hole! Darned Kiwi's. (much sarcasm, and I love New Zealand)

And IIRC, there's an Inuit town in Alaska that starts with a K or something that has almost completely falllen victim to the seas. I would like to know from whom you got the information that they have been growing in size for the last 10 years. There has been a net loss since 1998. HITMAN-X-
Well ncfan51 if you take a look into it, you will find that there a bit of a pattern to the places that believe and don't believe. I found most people I know in Texas don't believe (5), when I say most I really mean all as there only 2 people I know from Texas that believe in it and that because they moved along time ago to here. But I can understand it, who will this effect in places like Texas. What companys would hate this the most as it would mean they have to spend more money ?. What companys sponsor things and give money to other groups in Texas to help get the people on there side ? Same thing would happen were I live if that comapny had a hand to put in it. But they don't as Goverment is in control of part of that company and goverment has told people here that the effects of Global Warming are real. Thats why we learn it in our schools all over Canada. I remember something about the USA goverment paying a load of money on keywords like greenhouse gas on the net to cover it up back in the day. I not sure if there was any truth to it or not but I do know that they don't want to give the people much detail on things like Global Warming. http://crooksandliars.com/2007/11/08/bo ... americans/ In the end, as I said before, if you don't believe or you do believe it should not matter as we should be doing what we can to fix the problems that are said to cause Global Warming. Why because it harmful to us and our supplys. Quote DEXTUT.COM

LJXD
Global Warming is a creation of the media. Why would the media want to create Global warming hype? Just think about it, during the 6.00pm news in the adbreak think how many company's are misusing earths resources, how many company's are getting money off of deforesting rainforests. And there right there advertising their product or company. Read this article and tell me how many ads you've seen for these company's. If channel 10 (just an example) is making millions of dollars from playing ads for company's like coca-cola, why would they want to bump something that according to you doesn't exists and possibly lose all that money? Money makes people do things they shouldn't, thats why there is such a thing as global warming. Even if you dont believe all they hype about it, you cant think the state of the Amazon is quite good, or Asia's polluted rivers. I want a non believer to tell me that these things are in a healthy state. Nicad
I think that even if it does exist, it is caused by natural fluctuations in the earth's temperature. Even so, we should still try not to obliterate our planet's resources; that's just common sense. Quote This sentence is a lie.
