MrCactus Posted May 19 Posted May 19 In the past weeks I have encountered a problem when using the app (previously it worked fine). When using it (usually when selecting an area, pasting or resizing) I get black lines over it, or sometimes the image becomes distorted with the lines, and then my laptop crashes and I get a blue screen error, or sometimes Paintdotnet itself crashes (saying: "Sorry, but paint.net has encountered an unhandled exception and must close"), and a blue screen error happens regardless shortly after. I have tried reinstalling the app, scanning my system and reinstalling Windows. I am using Windows 10. Below I will attach the crash logs (I have also sent them to the crashlog email). pdncrash..log pdncrash.1.log pdncrash.2.log pdncrash.6.log Quote
toe_head2001 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Some of these exception messages are indicative of bad system memory (RAM). The fact that you're also having BSOD issues enforces this theory. It looks like your laptop is nearly 12 years old. Probably time to replace it. 43 minutes ago, MrCactus said: System.BadImageFormatException: Bad IL range. 44 minutes ago, MrCactus said: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. 1 Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
Rick Brewster Posted May 19 Posted May 19 A blue screen error indicates either bad hardware, buggy drivers, or malware/virus. Paint.NET itself cannot cause a blue screen on its own. I agree with @toe_head2001 assessment -- your computer itself is failing, and hard.
