Scaling the selection box

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to force a scale to the selection box, other than a square?

I would like to force the scale to be 4:3 or 16:9 when cropping. I have found the "Move Selection" command, which is very helpful in redefining the crop box, but I don't want to be doing math on the "bounding rectangle size" to get the proportions right.

Holding shift is so convenient to force a square selection box... can I define a different ratio, such as 4:3 rather than 1:1, for this feature?

Sure is. Once you've chosen the Rectangle Select tool, you'll see the context bar change to give you some options, one of which just says "normal." Click that to change it to "Fixed Ratio," and you'll see how I mean for this to be helpful. :-)

Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
