wowinyou
Hello everyone, I would like to ask if there are any Switches for Group Policy Settings. If not then is there a Registry Key from which Group Policy (ADMX) Files could be created? We have about 15 Clients and they need Paint.NET Deployed. We already have it Deployed but it is Annoying since some Devices are Laptops and Remoting is not Possible due to Direct Connection Issues. VPN is also too slow. Thanks for any Answers, wowinyou
Rick Brewster
There aren't any GPO specific settings. You can read what documentation we do have for unattended (EXE) and MSI installation here: https://getpaint.net/doc/latest/UnattendedInstallation.html Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
BoltBait
Did you know that my plugin pack includes a silent install for network managers. You can read about it here: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/121343-boltbaits-gpu-accelerated-plugin-pack-for-paintnet-v50-updated-2023-07-28/?do=findComment&comment=602775 Good luck! dodexahedron
While a simple ADMX and ADML for paint.net are relatively easy to create, it's likely that they wouldn't actually achieve your desired result, due mostly to how GP works. When an application isn't directly aware of group policy, such as paint.net, and is just reading registry values, your ADMX might be able to set those values to what you want them to be, but the user will be able to override them from within the application itself or by using regedit. And, since policies don't re-apply (without other supporting configuration), your setting would only be good as an initial preference. At that point, you may as well simply set the appropriate options at install time or modify the MSI tables using orca or something like that to set those values to whatever you want on install.
