BMP
Hi Fellow Members!  Last night and today I've been working on creating pale backgrounds beginning with white, shades of gray, and a hint of pink. Throw gray splotches on the canvas Smudge Add light and dark tones. additional color Smudge Expand Reduce opacity etc. Since last night, my brush is stuck on one of the darker grays. I've changed the color - the primary, completely removed gray from the choices, and even manually filled in RGB and Hex. I've cleaned out all the selects I've used: square, oval, and freehand. I've shut down the program, cleaned caches, and cold-booted.  What have I missed?  A few minutes later. Turns out that for whatever reason, the program is insisting on picking up the secondary unless it's paler than the primary. A bit of a PITA workaround, but it will get me through today's work. So. What do I have to do? Uninstall and reinstall?  Gratefully,  Annie Edited August 5 by BMP Add'l info Quote Time is in the mind of the beholder  A mayfly has 24 hours to learn its way around, fall in love, make babies, and write a will. BoltBait
When using the paint brush, check the options on the button bar: Maybe you've changed the blending mode away from "Normal" or "Overwrite"... BMP
Hi Rick. No, it was only happening on the brush tool. BMP
Thank you both for coming to my rescue 🤗. I thought for sure the "overwrite" feature was the problem, but no. Turns out the whole program was running on empty, along with my poor laptop. Once I lock onto a concept, I can run my little laptop into the ground. An overnight cool-down took care of the problem.
