TheMonkeyBob
It seems that by default the history data in Paint.net is saved under the AppData folder. How do I change the location that the history data is saved in? I know Photoshop has an option to change the scratch disk, but I do not see that option in Paint.net. I would like to put it on a drive that has more free space so I don't have to worry about running out of space during long sessions with large projects files. I would also like it to not be slowly eating away at the life of the SSD my operating system is on.
Solution Rick Brewster Posted August 5 Solution Share Posted August 5 Sorry, you can't change the location of the session data (aka scratch space) Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
TheMonkeyBob
How do I request that to be a feature? It seems like something that should be relatively easy to implement.

Unless you are @Rick Brewster himself, you're not allowed to say that... TheMonkeyBob
I know first hand with programming how things that seem like they should be easy to change are often not. The words "should be" and "relatively" may be doing a lot of heavy lifting in my statement, but basing it off the list of popular feature requests I think I correctly characterized it. BoltBait
As a person who has contributed to the Paint.NET code base, I can assure you that NOTHING is easy about it. BTW, Rick has filed an issue in the official repository about this issue. That is not to say that it will be implemented... it just means he will review it at a later date for inclusion--the issue won't be lost. TheMonkeyBob
Thank you. If it is ever implemented I will definitely drop a donation to you guys. I guess that kind of sounds like a bribe, but I just feel that if the features you request are actually implemented into free software then you should support the people that put the work into it.
