Why was text-using-right-click disabled?

Go to solution Solved by Rick Brewster,

The reason why it was disabled was because Rick wanted the keybinds to all be consistent with one another, and the text tool isn’t really something to use the right click with.

If you want to use the secondary color, switch it in the color window.

Actually this isn't a bug -- at least, not a new one. Even v3.5, released over 10 years ago, doesn't have right-click with Text tool to draw w/ the secondary color.

Regardless, I think it makes sense to enable this.

Also, to make this more convenient, you can press X to swap the primary and secondary colors. You don't have to click in the Colors window, in other words. (its tooltip shows the shortcut key, btw)

What Rick is saying is press X to swap colours before you left click to start typing.

However, you can actually press X to swap the Primary and Secondary colours even if you are part way through typing your text and you change your mind about which colour you want...

1. Press T for the text tool

2. Left click on the canvas and start typing

3. Hold down the right mouse button anywhere on the canvas and press X (the entered text colour changes)

4. Release the right mouse button and keep typing

Doing this means that you can quickly toggle the colour to see which looks best without having to move your mouse to the Colors window.

Holding down the right mouse button, which is normally used to move the text, allows you to press X without that character becoming part of your entered text.
