Why is rounded rectangle suddenly so limited in corner size?

Liking nice clear circle, i often use the rounded rectangle tool which makes the nice sharp circle seen on the right, where the circle tool makes the fuzzier circle on the left.

The issue is that suddenly the maximum size for the corners of rounded rectangles is 250 pixels, so you can't make a circle over 500 pixels diameter with the rounded rectangle tool. 

I struggle to understand how lowering this value could have been an improvement?

The corner size of the rounded rectangle is not limited to 250 pixels.

The Corner size control is a combobox; ie. you can use the dropdown or you can type a value.

So just type 500 (or whatever size you want).

And if you want a very 'sharp' circle of that sort of size, you could change from Antialiased rendering to Aliased rendering using the control to the right of Fill.
