Ash Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 (edited) This tutorial is available as a PDF. Click here to view or download it As requested, This tut will help you try to draw something like this. Since I don't remember all the steps and most people asks for how to to the sky, I will start with the sky. Remember, Layers and blending are your friends. 1.New Image--Pick the color you want for the sky, USE Clouds 2.USE Move selected pixels to Stretch the image side by side. [/u] 3.Add New Lyayer---Gradient 4.USE Reflect as blending mode---Merge Layer down 5.Add New Lyayer---Gradient 6.USE Color Burn as blending mode---Merge Layer down 7.Another Add New Lyayer---Gradient---Overlay as blending mode---Merge Layer down 8.Add New Lyayer---Move Layer down---fill layer with color of the ocean. (If you want a Sun...Now would be a good time to add a new layer with a Sun before the next step) 9. USE Water Plugin. 10. Optional--to make water darker Add New Lyayer---Remember to set the 2nd color's Alpha to 0---Gradient---Merge Layer down Done This is what you end up with (Note: The Sunset took much more adjustments and layers to finish, so keep working on it until you are happy with it) Hope this helps.. Ideas & comments welcome Edit: Added these step from my post on the 2nd page of this tut. Ok Let's do a simple one for the sun. Follow the settings as image above for all layers. For the sun use Glow and Gaussian Blur and Zoom Blur in any order as you like...mix and match After you finish---flatten image---use water You should have your 1st sunset Edited March 28, 2019 by Woodsy rehosted to Postimage Quote All creations Ash + Paint.NET [ Googlepage | deviantArt | Club PDN | PDN Fan ]

Ash Posted May 29, 2007 Author Posted May 29, 2007 You should draw the sun before you use the water plugin, so the sun will have a reflection as well, and remember to give the sun more then just 1 color. Center is brighter, and try with a few layers for the sun and try different blending modes between layers to see what effect will be. Hope this helps Let me know if there are more questions 8) Quote All creations Ash + Paint.NET [ Googlepage | deviantArt | Club PDN | PDN Fan ]
