Is there any way to add shapes and images in and allow them to be still moveable and editable?

This is the biggest hindrance I have to using Paint.net, I really miss it from Macromedia/Adobe Fireworks. That was an awesome well-rounded editor.

Nope. Paint.NET is a raster/bitmap editor, it is not a vector/object editor.

Moveable - yes. Put your objects on separate layers.

 

Editable - no, for the reason that Rick said.


You could try Inkscape: https://inkscape.org/, maybe using it in conjunction with paint.net depending on what your needs are.

 

Inkscape has a bit of a learning curve but it's a very powerful vector image editor.
