turanbon
I'm working in paint.net with a png image, when I save it to jpg, the current image also changes the name to the new one with jpg extension, do all the pixels in the working space also undergo jpg compression or do they stay the same? When I save 2nd time with some additional cropping, will I have double quality degradation from jpg compression?

The generational quality degradation only occurs if you are repeatedly opening, editing and saving a jpg image (or any other lossy format).
