Shaheens Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Hi, Can I use those images for free for business purpose or post them on socail media which I have edited by using free version of paint.net and without giving credit to paint.net? Quote
Rick Brewster Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Why would you need to give credit to Paint.NET if you're the one who created the image? 🤔 If I build a house I don't need to give credit to the manufacturers of the tools I used along the way Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Shaheens Posted May 24, 2023 Author Posted May 24, 2023 So it means whatever image I edit by using paint.net, I can use it for business purpose ? also please tell me is their any restriction on using tools, text or whatever includes in paint.net software ? Quote
BoltBait Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Just now, Shaheens said: So it means whatever image I edit by using paint.net, I can use it for business purpose ? Do you own the original image (the image BEFORE you modified it in Paint.NET)? 1 minute ago, Shaheens said: is their any restriction on using tools, text or whatever includes in paint.net software ? Paint.NET does not ship with any fonts. It simply uses the fonts already existing on your system. Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
Shaheens Posted May 24, 2023 Author Posted May 24, 2023 I took the picture myself with mobile and now I am editing this picture with paint.net. Can I use the edited images for business purpose? Quote
BoltBait Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Nothing you've said so far would prevent you from using your image for business purposes.* *Assuming you haven't taken a picture of a person without their consent... or, say, a business or other copyrighted work (Eiffel Tower, Mona Lisa, etc.) Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
Shaheens Posted May 24, 2023 Author Posted May 24, 2023 I took a picture of the helmet and edited it on Paint.net. Quote
Rick Brewster Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 I’m not sure why you think your question hasn’t already been answered. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 Paint.NET doesn’t impose any licensing or royalties or restrictions or anything on the images that it is used to create, modify, etc. This isn’t even a Paint.NET question. Rick Brewster Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 However we have to be a bit dodgy because we are not lawyers and we can’t say “yes you can use that particular image for whatever purpose” because we don’t know anything about that image or photo or whatever. If you already had the rights to an image before you loaded it up in Paint.NET then you should be fine, but we cannot answer your legal questions beyond that. We are not the gatekeepers of your legal rights and responsibilities. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html

If the helmet clearly lets say, a Harley Davidson logo and use it for business (making a profit) then you could get sued. Most likely you would just receive a take down notice. If no logos, trademarks, copyrighted material appears in the photo then by all means go to town. You took the photo, modified it, so that makes it yours. Now... If you ask me if someone else can use your photo (laughing) see the previous paragraph. In regards to Paint.Net I can only eho what has already been said. Quote
