My exploding planet:

If you use the Cloud :Clouds: Render Effect with a dark orange primary colour and white secondary colour instead of colour-inverted cracked mud, and otherwise follow the same steps, you get a sun:

sunexplode.png

It lacks flares and such, but it's a good basis on which you could add more features.

That's really good work. Alderaan has nothing on THAT planet. :-)

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Nice tutorial, dude.Thank you :D

here's what I've done:

I followed the steps you wrote, and I did that with invert colors.I was trying to find out how can I put the colour of my choice.

I am a newbie at PDN.. Can someone write how can I put a certain colour, and how can I put that asteroid font?I would appreciate it!

Thanks in advance.

You can change the Hue/Saturation :HueSaturation: when you're done to tweak the colors to your exact needs.

Curves :Curves: could work too, if you know how to use it.

It might look better to change the Hue/Saturation (or Curves) before you start too.

I'm new, I don't understand the duplicate layer thing. When I hit "Add New Layer" A layer is added but it's not the planet obviously, and when I hit "Duplicate Layer" nothing happens. Help?

When you hit "Duplicate Layer," it won't look like anything has happened, but it's just because the new layer is identical to the first. Keep an eye on the Layers window when you duplicate; you'll be able to see what happens.

Once you have it duplicated, you can run the blending mode and you'll finally see a change.
