Feature request: Dockable color palette, keyboard interface

The tool palette already has a nice presentation and keyboard interface.

I would need the same for color selection:

• A dockable, small panel, with the current color palette in it.
• Keyboard shortcuts to enter the color palette, for foreground and background respectively.
• Additional keys for selecting a color.
• All in all, much like the current tool selection.

Expand the Colors Window (click the More button)

 

Your current palette is in the bottom left corner. The swatch is clickable with both left and right mouse buttons (= Primary and Secondary colors respectively). This is going to be much faster than trying to use a keyboard to enter the colors.

I' m looking for a new feature, where the color can really be selected by keyboard.

You could see this as an accessibility feature.

There are 96 colors in a palette. That's a lot of keys to assign.

I understand - but there are 96 colors in a palette and there are few key combinations left unassigned. PDN uses a LOT of keys already.

 

What keys were you thinking of?

If there were shortcut keys for the individual colors it would have to involve chords, like a 3 (or more) character combination for 1) begin color selection, 2) row, 3) column.
