So basically what I'm trying to do here (I'm using a game textures), the game reades the _ image and the basic colored image and combine them so that the more white parts are most transparent and the less white (more transparent) white parts indicate to the transparency of the colored image. How  would I be able to do this?

I think what you need is BoltBait's Paste Alpha plugin.

Copy the black-and-white image to the clipboard, then run Paste Alpha on the color image. The default mode of Paste Alpha is to use the intensity of the clipboard image to determine the alpha of the canvas image (the layer you're running it on). That's what you want.
