Replace "Compression speed" with "Image analysis" in AVIF save window.

Recommended Posts

In AVIF save window.
Image analysis - It realistically reflects what is happening with the image quality and the time it takes to process it.
Compression speed - Everyone wants the compression speed to be as high as possible (fastest) and the Very Slow option may be incomprehensible.

The Fast, Medium, Slow, Very Slow naming scheme is based on what the x265 encoder uses.

Compression speed is referring to how much effort AOM puts into compressing the image data, slower speeds can produce a smaller/higher quality file but will take longer to process the image.

Image analysis is not an accurate name because AOM is compressing the data after it analyzes it.

I would support changing Compression speed to Compression preset.

This matches the terminology used by x265 and may better reflect that it changes multiple settings that may affect the compression quality/speed tradeoff.

The small increase in performance you get coding in C++ over C# is hardly enough to offset the headache of coding in the C++ language. ~BoltBait
