Paint.Net wants to scan with a non existent printer

I used to have a Brother printer, upgraded a few years ago to an Epson. Paint.net insist on trying to "acquire or scan" using the old Brother printer, even though there is NOTHING left of the old printer on my laptop. I have completely uninstalled it.

So I turn the laptop off, turn the printer off, plug the printer in either before or after I open Paint.net, whatever I do, it always tries to use the non existent printer. So I walk away in disgust and just take a photo of what I wanted to scan.

Then the next time I come to use P.N, it comes up with BOTH printers available, and scans perfectly!

Please tell me what is going on?? I am totally up to date with P.N updates, running Win 11, 64 bit Lenovo laptop.

And yes, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling P.N, with no success.
